Continue to support Airspace Safety and specifically General Aviation. Look toward supporting local airport survival as they are targets aimed at by Real Estate developers who desire profit now, at the expense of important current and future community benefits.

This seems dumb.

Why full blown radar? Why not just a basic ADS-B receiver which can be purchased and configured for pennies… I mean my $1000 ADS-B-In receiver with a basic display would work fine.

And also, UPS receiving multiple traffic alerts from air traffic at Redlands? Of course they did. That’s what happens when you fly in busy airspace. Doesn’t have anything to do with the tower having radar or not.

There’s something oddly unintelligent about this article.

FAA shows great concern about "safety" when a pilot commits a minor infraction, but sits on its hands when big issues like this one come along. This is how bureaucrats allow tragedies to happen.

How was traffic handled when SBD was military? I would assume the Air Force had radar. Was their system totally Removed when the air field was abandoned? As a resident, I never heard of problems between AF and GA aircraft. Also, with all the air traffic in to Ontario, LAX, Chino, Riverside and other airports in the Valley, I am surprised that heavy civil aircraft were allowed to utilize SBD without radar???
